Nuclear Dangers in Ukraine

24 Mar

The flier below is for a presentation by Cynthia Lazaroff and myself on nuclear dangers associated with the Ukraine War. Cynthia is a prominent specialist on nuclear issues with a special focus on Russia. She also experienced the false alarm of an imminent nuclear attack on Hawaii where she lives with her family. This existential contact with nuclear danger was, not surprisingly, a terrifying confirmation that our world has remained vulnerable to unimaginable catastrophe more than 75 years after atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Not since the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962 has ‘living with the bomb’ been so manifestly dangerous as in this period of devastation and tragedy as is taking place in Ukraine. Aside from the humanitarian imperative to do all in our power to stop the killing is the precautionary urgency of ending this period of heightened nuclear risk, not only arising from the weapons but also from nuclear power plants throughout the country. Remembering that Chernobyl is situated close to Kyiv should itself be chastening enough to justify demands for an immediate halt to Russian aggression and NATO/U.S. inflammatory rhetoric and escalating moves.

The event is sponsored by the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation, and as the flyer indicates, Is scheduled for March 29th, 11 am PDT, 2 pm EDT, 7 pm CET with the Zoom link indicated below

The graphic, which contains the actual information about the event, is unreadable either here or on linked in. When is it? How does one access it?
